Generative AI for Business: Choose a Workflow, Then Measure It

A useful AI project starts with a recurring task whose output can be checked. Broad claims about transformation are less useful than a clear description of what the system should produce, who will review it and how an error will be handled.

Write the task before selecting the model

Specify the input, expected output and constraints. An example is preparing an enquiry summary from a customer’s message using an approved service list. The system should identify missing information, preserve important details and route the result to a person.

Define the review boundary

Decide which outputs may be used automatically and which need approval. A draft social caption and a binding price commitment have different consequences. Keep approvals, escalation and access permissions explicit. A fluent response can still contain a factual error.

Build an acceptance checklist

  • Correctness: does the output match the approved source?
  • Completeness: does it preserve the details needed for the next step?
  • Uncertainty: does it ask for missing information instead of guessing?
  • Failure handling: what happens if the model or integration is unavailable?
  • Privacy: is the workflow using only the data it needs?
  • Cost: what does the workflow consume per request and per month?

Compare against the current process

Record the time and effort required by the existing workflow. Test representative examples and review the corrections people need to make. A shorter drafting time may be offset by additional checking; evaluate the complete process rather than one impressive demonstration.

Keep ownership and maintenance clear

Assign responsibility for prompts, source information, access, usage limits and ongoing evaluation. Avoid depending on an undocumented personal account. Agree on how data and configurations will be handed over if the service changes.

CarrasStudio can apply these principles to marketing and customer-facing workflows. More extensive operational software and integrations are scoped through Carras Technologies. The proposal should identify what is automated, what remains human-led and what success will be measured against.
